Leaky tub faucet - how to get stem out
I've got a slow drip coming from the tub faucet. After reading a few DIY articles about replacing the washer in the stem or even the stem itself I started the process but I'm stuck now trying to figure out how to get the stem out of the wall
I went out and bought a $20 pack of the universal shower socket valve wrench set but I don't even see where there is a hex screw. Can someone take a look at the pictures and let me know what I need to do next to get that stem out of that wall? What vexes me most is that all the guides I've seen show a stem and hex packing nut. I see the stem but it looks recessed into the pipe with nothing to grab on to pull it out. The 2nd photo in the album shows it best. Pictures are here: http://s922.photobucket.com/albums/ad65/chadandjody/ |

just make sure that the moen cartridge puller tool that you purchase will work with the Positemp cartridge.FYI moen sells two styles of cartridge pullers one for two handle faucet and one for a single handle faucet

You all were exactly right. It didn't help I mauled the plastic tabs trying to pry it out with a screwdriver before getting the moen removal tool. It's replaced and dripping (I hope) has stopped. |
