Leaking by well pipe entering house

Originally I thought the water accumulating in my crawl space near the pipes entering my house from the well was rain water. I pumped the water out and we have not had heavy rain recently. However, the water is back and has accumulated in the crawl space.

In my front yard there is a PVC pipe sticking up from the ground which I assume is my well. (I really do not know much about wells.) It is dry in that area. Under the house in the crawl space are black flexible pipes with a meter type gauge on it. The water seems to be pudding where those pipes come in. However, that is also the low point in my crawl space. I intend to inspect the crawl area when I pump the water out again, but is it possible the supply lines from the well are at fault? It seems the water pressure in the house is normal.

A private well would not have a meter on it. Can you take a photo of the device?
It is possible the water line from the well is leaking.

Do you think the water is coming up from the well pipe. It appears dry by the pipe in my front yard.

I think that your setup is dangerous, and should be completely re-vamped. Surface water is not supposed to be able to seep down into your well, thats how you get Cholera, Typhoid etc.

I thought it was coming UP from the well. Please give details about being "re-vamped."

It is in the laundry room about 20 ft. or so away from the entrance to the crawl space. I also have a water softener there.

It is hard to tell, but it appears that when I turn off the pump the water does not get worse. However, I will give it another day with no pump on to see if more water accumulates. I assume if the water stops it MUST be a problem with the well supply lines? It is raining now so I will also see if that is a factor.

if you have a leak in the piping on well system..you should see a pressure drop on gauge... and the system will cycle without using water..ben sr

I have turned the pump off now, but when it was on I did not hear any unusual cycling. Please fill me in on what to look for on the gauge pictured above. I have never owned a house with a well and I am not familiar. What should the reading be when it is acting normal?

The first problem I see is what appears to be NM cable going down into the ground via a pipe. That needs to be underground wet rated cable.

As for the water, when the pump is running can you see water leaking out anywhere?
