Leaking (waterfall style) Bathtub Spout?

Hi all!

This seems like a great forum for noobs and old timers alike!

Maybe some pro's can help me out, if I can describe this. I can get pictures/videos if necessary.

We have a 3 handle (hot) (shower) (cold) setup in one of our bathrooms. The bathtub spout? (fixture where the water comes out, faucet?) doesn't stop flowing when we turn the handle from the tub to the shower. It stops a bit, but we mostly just waste good water while taking a shower. I've done some research, but have no idea what to look for, or where to start. I'm assuming there's some sort of valve that is not working properly anymore. I've caught wind of some rumors online about valves with washers that corrode and give off these symptoms? If you need more info, just ask, I'd be glad to give. Please pick my brain so you guys can help me get this fixed!

If you are what they say "mechanical" or "handy", then take apart that center valve, look inside and see what is up!

Maybe there is a rubber washer which needs replacement.

Maybe there is some crud in there which a quick flush of water will clean out.

Maybe there is crud which needs to be scraped out.

Maybe the center valve needs to be replaced.

If you are not "handy", then call a plumber...

I'm handy, I just resealed the shower door frame, as well as replaced the baseboard that was swelling because the leak, which somebody decided to throw gobs of silicone on top of it, without actually bothering to remove the old silicone.

Thing is, I have no idea where to start on the valves. I'll take a peek in there and see if I can find anything. Snap some pics, see if anybody else will be able to spot something I can't. Thanks for the nudge in the right direction!
