leaking stop valve

The hot water stop valve for my downstairs sink has a slow drip. It's a compression so I tightened it a little but it didn't help. I went a little tighter and still dripping. I don't want to go any tighter since I have to reuse the pipe again for a new valve. I know your not suppose to use teflon tape on a compression ferrell but for a quick temp fix could it really do any harm since the valve is shot anyway?? thanks

You can use teflon tape, there no problems using it.

Fix it right the first time, so you won't have to fix it a 2nd time.
