leaking pipes

tina cosio Newbie   Join Date: Oct 2007 Posts: 1	leaking pipes Hi, I need some advice. My shower head started leaking about 2 months ago. We replaced the shower head but it still leaked. And the shower knobs, but it continued to leak. After a couple of weeks it really started leaking heavily. Well, I inadvertly turned the knob so much that it would not turnoff the water, So, we kind of turn it off with a contraption that turns it off and on. WEll we do not use the shower anymore but know the water is leaking behind the shower wall. WE have another problem because now there is mold and fungus growing outside the shower wall facing the backYARD. WE need serious help

Mike Swearingen Long-Time DIYer     Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: On Albemarle Sound In Northeastern NC Posts: 1,460	leaking pipes Tina, Shower heads and knobs don't actually leak, the control valves at the faucet body leak (depending upon the type...it could be worn washers and o-rings, or seats-and-springs, or a cartridge). Based on your post, I agree that you need to call a licensed plumber. Good luck! MIke
