Leaking Kitchen Plumbing

I have a leak in my kitchen sink plumbing, it appears as though the water is leaking from one of the joints close to where the sink drain meets the pvc plumbing. I would like to know if it would be better to repair (how to?) or replace the piping all together. The sink is two sided and would it be recommended to replace the pvc piping for both sides of the sink?

Thanks

First just go under there and tighten the compression fitting where it is leaking. Just by hand, don't use a wrench. If that doesn't do it, then go ahead and replace the plumbing from the sinks to the drain. You can get a kit at any hardware store that will have all the pieces in it.

I have similar situation before, it ends up the metal pipe from the sink down is too short from the builder... tightening it up cause the fitting coming off, I change to a longer one and it fixes the problem...

in your case, you should check if water is draining fast enough also, if it is not, clearing up the drain may fix the problem...

Also check the basket strainer to make sure it is not the place the leak is coming from. If so, you will need to remove it and re-putty the rim of the strainer.
