Leaking faucet..replaced cartridge

We had a leaking tub faucet and I replaced the cartridge and the little rubber/spring thingy combo that stopped the leak.Problem is, the faucet now has to be turned in the opposite direction as before to turn the hot water on.

1.What did I do wrong?

2.What is the fix?

Thanks!

Oh. I know this one.

You need to rotate the cartridge 180 degrees.

Depends on the cartridge. Some can be rotated if it's a single handle.

If it's a 2 handle, sometimes you have to get a cold or hot to replace the corresponding cartridge.

From what you describe, it sounds like a delta 2 handle. Check the bag and see if it says hot or cold on it. I'm not sure those cartridges can be rotated.
