Leaking Center Hole

I've installed a 3 hole 4" faucet in my basement bathroom. When the faucet is turned on water leaks through the center hole, thoughts/solutions?

Sounds like the faucet may be defective. You might want to take it back and get a new one.

First thing I would do is tighten the packing nut-there is probably a nut under the trim ring. The shaft of the stem should extend through the packing nut and there is a rubber or plastic washer under the packing nut which is suppossed to let the stem spin but make it watertight.

Could be a cross threaded aerator or a bad solder joint in the faucet. take it back, get a new one
