leaking ball valve

I installed brand new 1/2inch; sweated ball valves horizontally with the handles on the bottom and 2 of them are leaking slightly from the handle mount. Is there something I can do to stop the leak short of sweating new valves?

overheated when soldering? really? it's just dripping ever so slightly. tightening the nut worked on one but not the other. Can I change or add packing? If so, what should I use? I do have new, uninstalled valves (prochannel brand)

if they have packing nuts and i assume they do since one worked. tighten the other up tighter worse case will need to replace anyway...I think packing is small white ring......and yes you can overheat when soldering and cause damage.....maybe take new valve apart and see what there and see if you can repair the one leaking.......your choice...
