Leaking Ball Valve

I have a ball valve on the cold water line which controls water flow to an exterior building. I rely on the valve to totally stop the water flow to that exterior building during the winter months. The valve is used twice a year, once in the fall to turn the water off, and again in the spring to turn it back on. This year, I discovered that even when the valve is in a fully closed position, I'm getting a slow drip from the closed valve. Is there a way to repair this, or should I be looking at replacing the entire valve.

Just change the valve---they rarely fail so the new one should take care of the problem.

Agreed

If it's not brass, i'd look at putting a brass one in-i've not had one fail yet.

I agree with Ben. An 1/8th of a turn on the packing nut is a lot quicker, easier and cheaper than replacing the whole valve!
