Leach field issues

My dog dug up a couple huge holes on the leach field. Then they were just filled in with soil. When they were filled in they were full of water and now that they are filled in weeks later there is water seeping up from the ground and a bad smell occasionally. Where should I even start with this?

Had you gotten a tremendous amount of rain at the time? That could saturate the ground and prevent the outflow from the septic tank from being properly and correctly and normally absorbed.

Most likely there was already a problem with the leach field, having nothing to do with your dog.

There is a slight chance that the kind of dirt you refilled the holes with got into the leach field pipes and clogged them.

The good conscientious technician or serviceperson will carry extra oils and lubricants in case the new pump did not come with oil or the oil was accidentally spilled, so the service call can be completed without an extra visit.

Thanks that makes me feel a lot better because we have had quite a bit of rain lately and with the high humidity not allowing evaporation as good and the fact that I just found a leak in my toilet sending water down the drain constantly (which I just fixed) I'm hoping it will clear up and get back to normal!
