Lack of Hot Water Pressure

My hot water pressure drastically reduced last week. A few local plumbers in the area say it's calcium. per their direction i removed the hot water handle in the shower and all the parts until i got to the valve it's self. it's a plastic piece that seems to be glued in there. is there a way to get it out, or do i have to break it out and put in a new one. they say if i can get it out i can clean it off.

wolfe, Welcome to the Forum
Have you completely removed the Shower Head?

Don't mess with the shower handle for now. You may have misunderstood their directions. Put the handle back and remove the Shower Head. Then turn the the water full on to test for the water flow. There may be a clogged water restrictor in the shower head.

Was the drop in pressure just in the shower, or all fixtures? The water pressure going into the water heater determines what the outlet pressure will be.
If you have never made a mistake, you haven't done much.

You'd be amazed at how your water pressure increases when you remove the aerator.

Soak the entire head in vinegar.

thanks, for all the replies. to update the situation. the lack of pressure is primarily in the hot water in the shower. the lack of pressure is apparent in the bath tub spigot. it is also in the hot water for the washer. not much pressure there anymore. i would think this puts the problem before the shower head.

i was able to remove the valve from the pipe on the hot water for the tub. i let the water run for a long time and found little to no calcium. i also turned off the power to the water heater, hooked up a hose to the bottom and completly drained if for over an hour until it stopped. then i hooked up my vacume cleaner to the bottom of the heater and sucked out the remaining water. very little if any calcium was discovered. it kind of looked like white paint chips.

would appreciate any additional insight this leg work provides.

the other fixtures don't show much drop in pressure, but there is a little.

Low hot water pressure

Help! This just happened to me. All of the sudden there is low hot water pressure in all my faucets. Must be a problem at the in or out of the water heater. Any suggestions on how to really diagnose this?
