Question

kitchen WALL (not hood) fan questions

my basement apartment kitchen is located in the middle of an elongated row house so i cannot discharge kitchen fumes very easily. what i plan on doing is a bipartite system - recirculating hood fan and a wall fan which does blow out.

questions:

1. the duct will need to travel about 12 ft outside. what is the highest number of recommended bends the duct should have, for fire safety ? i was planning to have 3, is that too many ?

3. can i use a 3" duct instead of 4" ?

thanks
