Kitchen tap issue

We have a price pfister faucet in the kitchen. The problem is that the main stem of the tap is loose. The main stem of the tap can be pulled up about 3 inches and wobbles when we swivel it to the left and right.

Is the white clip in the proper place? I push it down close to the threads. When we try to tighten the assembly the threads don't catch. So, When I remove the white clip the assembly can tighten; however, the main stem or tap can still slide up about 3" or so...It's still loose.

I would like to be able to tighten the full assebley an not have the main stem of the faucet wobble or slide up if I pull on it.

Any suggestions?
Thank you kindly

Can you post a model number of the faucet?

I will add that it looks like the ring in where it belongs

None of the plumbers that I know will provide and install a price pfister because IMHO they are cheaply made but cost alot. If you are going to spend that kind of money spend a little more and go with a delta or moen. Delta has a decent sencond line called peerless. PP has alot of plastic in them.

I have install all four in my own house and the PP has been replaced in just over a year. The others are going strong.

Again just IMHO

thanks for the pdf...yes that is the model exactly..good eye!!!!

Maybe its a design flaw thing and its just loose anyways? Im staying with a relative and trying to fix their faucet. Seems weird that I have all the parts when I tighten everything the main stem still pulls out...very odd.

its like it needs to be attached to a lock nut below. But the only one I see is for the base of the unit.

these things are made to swivel, therefore they have to be loose to a certain extent. my daughter has one similar to your pics and i have noticed hers is loose too. it works fine, just loose. i haven't tried it but you might take the washer to the store and buy the next size that seems a little larger or thicker. it would cost little to try this and if it didn't work put it back like it was. the other post about you should have used delta or moen is absolutely correct. when i show up and people pull out oddball brands or "certain" well known brands i tell them if they would have bought the two above mentioned i will stand behind them. the others, not me. thanks, bb

thats a good suggestion about a larger washer to see if tightens the spout. yes, it should swivel but it seems so loose and can be lifted up a few inches which is poor build quality indeed!

So based on the above pdf diagram what is actually holding the spout down? Like i say i can pull the whole spout up about 3 inches and then it stops.

thanks
