kitchen sink valve placement ?

i am planning my kitchen sink plumbing. i was think, can i place the shutoff valves close to the door ? my wife is disabled. and if she ever needed to shut the water off, she would have a real hard time reaching back where they are normally put.

i am thinking = 1/2 throught the floor/base cabinet, close to the door. ball valves (much easier for her to work, and to see that they are "worked"). then 1/2" to the fittings for the flex hoses.

what do you think of this idea ??

also. do they make ball valves that solder directly to 1/2 copper ?
or fittings for the ball valves to thread to ?
do they make fittings for the sink, DW, and fridge supply ? to solder onto 1/2 copper .

thanx

What you propose is a good idea and not that difficult.
1/2 copper sweat or compression straight stops are available.
If you want larger handles use 1/2" ball valves and then an adapter to what ever.....
Adapters are available for just about anything, just need to to search for them, not just at the box stores too.

What if you just drilled the handles on the ball valves and installed stiff wire extensions on them so the could lay flat on bottem of cabinet but pulled on when needed to shut the valves off in an emergency?
That way they could be removed easily later on if not needed anymore and you wouldnt have to worry about replumbing things.

thanx. after posting, i said = what problems will they find with it.

yeah, you like that. well, you aint seen nuthin.
i forgot to buy a kit. so i had to "make do" with what i had. the trap is just to the right of the pic. then an elbow over to the elbow that you see connected to the sideways trap. take a guess on how the 2 elbows are connected. a hint = it can go 200mph
oh, and its not leaking. and is, of course, temporary.

I've seen worse that was permanent!

Remember---to be code compliant---we need a separate p-trap for each fixture in this area----

A Ram bit will allow you to cut a pipe out of a fitting,if you ever need to do that----
