Kitchen sink leaking from the faucet

Its a slow drip from the faucet and I have no idea where to start. Its a two handled design. Just started dripping the other day and won't stop. Sometimes makes a screaming noise but its rare (only happened once or twice in the past two weeks). Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm not sure of the brand but could find out if necessary.

I just realized that the sink is also leaking around the decorative cap at the base of the faucet/spout.

Can you post a picture of the faucet?

You need to try to determine the brand name ifpossible, but if it's a two-handle faucet, it most likely is a compression-type faucet with washers on the end of the handle stems and o-rings around the barrel of the spout.
You will need to turn the water off to the faucet, and take it apart. Even if you can't find the brand name, you can take the stems with the old washers on the ends and the old 0-rings to a store to get matching replacements.
Good luck!
Mike
