Kitchen Sink Flange Pipe

Hello, quick question, I replaced the flange pipe on my sink, but the piece that connect to that to begin the P-trap keeps sliding down. How do you keep it from sliding down? Glue?

Kitchen Sink Flange Pipe

A picture would sure help. Sounds like your missing a tapered plactic washer or you have the washer up side down.

Kitchen Sink Flange Pipe

Sorry no pics yet, but I think I know what the problem. The original home owner taped it so it wouldn't slide down(which is the problem I am having). I think the reason for this its missing the top piece on the flange to connect to the piece that connects to the flange.

Shouldn't there be two pieces that screw together with that plastic washer in the middle?

Maybe you have too much upward stress on the ptrap. If, when the trap slips down, it still has grade for drainage then you might consider leaving it in that position and lengthening the tailpiece.
No glue on slip joint assemblies. They're held in place by the nut and tapered washer- the taper seats against the ptrap
