Kitchen Sink Drain - brown buildup?
I have dual sinks in my kitchen - one of them is perfectly normal and shiny.
The other one is the problem. The drain is BROWN and it looks cracked. It's quite nasty - you can scrape it with a spoon but nothing happens when you wipe it with a cloth.... Any ideas? My camera cord is missing so I can't show you the pictures... |

Kitchen Sink Drain - brown buildup?
What is the sink made of? Does it look cracked, or is it actually cracked?

The sink is stainless steel. It looks like the buildup is just on the strainer basket and it's cracked....I can't really tell what's going on. I'm going to see if I can hook up my camera and show the pictures.

The cracking is probably the laquer finish that used to give it its shine.
Try soaking the sink with a product called CLR (calcuim-lime-rust). That should remove the gooky buildup. |
