kitchen sink drain

i am trying to replace a drain in my kitchen sink. i can't get the old one out. it is smooth all the way to the bottom of the sink. the only nut was at the base if the drain, and it has corroded in half. could it be all one piece? what should i do? thanks

The drain unscrews from inside the sink. Turn it with two large screwdrivers acting like extended chopsticks
