Kitchen sink centered on cabinet?
I'm installing a new kitchen sink on a 36" sink cabinet at the far left end of a countertop. I'd like to leave some countertop to the left of the sink, which would require off-setting the sink to the right on the sink cabinet. I've seen a couple websites that insist the sink should be centered on the cabinet, however. I can't think of any reason that this should be so. Any opinions? Thanks!

Chris,
In most cases, especially if the sink it symetrical, I try to center the sink on the sink base. Usually there is a window above the sink. I try to center the sink and sink base on the window centerline. Purely for aesthetics. How far were you thinking about moving the sink off center? If you are using a sink that has one large bowl and one small one, sometimes being off center isn't as noticeable. Mike Hawkins:) |
I had to decide whether to center sink and base on a window, or offset about 6" to allow room to get a lazy-susan into the corner. I thought centered, my wife said offset was ok. We offset it - and she was right. We nor nobody else notices. I doubt if your situation would be noticeable or a problem either.

Good enough for me. Thanks!
