Kitchen faucet sprayer barely working

I had a new kitchen faucet and sprayer installed a while ago. The new sprayer has never worked properly. The sprayer just dribbles. I re-checked the diffuser and it is clean as a whistle. Bought another sprayer head, still the same problem. The original faucet and sprayer worked fine so why won't this sprayer work? Hate to call a plumber because of $$$. Please help.

Does water keep coming out of the faucet when you push the sprayer handle?

No, the water does stop coming out of the faucet when I engage the sprayer.

Can you post a picture of the sink with the faucet & sprayer please, or manufacturer & model#. If you are able to press the trigger, and the water stops flowing at the faucet, that means the head is screwed up. If this is just a sprayer coming up through the sink on the back, and not a faucet that the sprayer is also the faucet, you can get replacements at Lowe's, Home Depot, Ace Hardware, etc.
Ren: Now listen, Cadet. I've got a job for you. See this button? Ren: Don't touch it! It's the History Eraser button, you fool! Stimpy: So what'll happen? Ren: That's just it. We don't know. Maybe something bad, maybe something good. I guess we'll never know, 'cause you're going to guard it. You won't touch it, will you?

Some sprayers have a tiny back flow preventer in the line--usually where the faucet and spray hose meet--a small bit of crud will stop up that valve--
