Keeping water inside a sink

I have a vanity sink and I wish to soak stuff overnight. Water escape within minutes. I bought new plugs. I bought new tube where the plug goes, I can't keep the water there.

Those stoppers really are rarely watertight for overnight soaking; I'd get a plastic basin from Walmart or somewhere and use that.
