The lucite grab bar in my fiberglass tub is splintered but still in one piece. Is there any way to cover it or remove it without having to go through the wall behind it? My contractor says the only way to get a new one in the tub would be to cut the wall and I don't want to do that. We are looking for any suggestions on this!

Thank you

Not sure how it would look, but there are shower curtain rod covers made of plastic split on the long length that you could inexpensively cover the bar with.

Good Suggestion Bob22, I am on my way to the hardware store and will take a look at them.

1: wrap in rubber tape. orrrr.....
2: cut a slot from properly sized pvc and snap/glue that over the piece. orrrr....
3: cut it out and replace with stronger rod. orrrr....
4: replace tub.

Covering that grab bar could present a very dangerous hazzard. If someone forgets or a guest tries to use it and it breaks, they could get seriously injured. I would only remove or replace the bar, period.
