Jacuzzi cleaning/maintenance?

Hi All.

I hope you can help me. We have bought a house that the prior owners said came with the Jacuzzi. It hasn't been used since 1995, so as we took posession we tried it out and it seemed to work, but there was a lot of black gunk/dirt in the jets.

I am wondering how we can clean/disinfect the tub/jacuzzi on a regular basis? Can anyone provide suggestions?

Thanks so much.

Is this a regular jacuzzi or a jacuzzi tub? If it's a regular jacuzzi I'd go to a store that sells jacuzzis and jacuzzi supplies. They should be able to tell you the correct process for cleaning it out and maintaining it as well as sell you the correct chemicals.

Jacuzzi cleaning/maintenance?

Hi There.

Thanks for your reply.

It is a jacuzzi/bathtub, so it's a combination you could say. It's the only bath-tub in the house, so we have no other alternatives (except for a shower stall).

Thanks

I'd fill it and run it with bleach. The black gunk is mouldy stagnant water that was left in the plumbing each time the tub was filled and the jets not used.

If this is the kind of "garden tub" builders put into homes to "upscale" them, with the jets in the sidewalls of the tub and not the bottom, you're going to find these are just expensive gimmicks that have no thereputic value whatsoever.

I'd do a Google search, or better yet if their is a company name on the tub contact them. Bleach may harm the tub (or it may not) I'm sure their is a prescribed way to do this.
