interesting question

Hi!
Today I wanted to replace my shower hose, and this is what happend: .
I have no idea what this strange thing at the end of the hose is. When I screw it back on the pipe, water isn't flowing at all. Any idea what to do?

Thats a backflow protector. It's to prevent your soapy bathwater entering your pristine drinking water if you left the hose in the bath when full.
