Question

Installing a stackable washer dryer in hall closet next to bathroom

Hey guys,

I am installing a stackabe washer/dryer in a hall closet next to the batroom. I can have the gas and electric run my problem is how do I drain the washer? Its a second floor condo so I cant cut into the floor. It there a way to tap into the drain of the Sink or toilet so the washer can drain?

Thanks guys!

IIRC by code, washer should drain via air gap, into a trapped and vented standpipe above its fill line. So yes, you should be able to cut into sink drain line.

Also be sure that dryer is adequately vented, and if gas, that combustion air is supplied. (will probably need a grill in the closet door)
