Installing Shower Pan on Concrete Floor

I'm installing a Sterling shower system (pan and 3 walls) in a basement bath. Is there a shower drain that fits inside the 2 inch pipe coming up through the concrete? Or do I have to chip out around the pipe and use the conventional Oately drain that fits over the pipe? I'm talking about the one that has the rubber gasket that goes over the 2 inch pipe. Seems to me that the drain should be the male and the 2 inch pipe should be the female.

No, the drain goes over the pipe.

When working with a shower base on a slab, it is critical that your drain location be very accurate.

The reason they don't make one that goes inside of a 2" is because 2" ID is the minimum size for a shower drain.

Good luck, and post back if you have more questions.

if you put a coupling on a piece of pipe it becomes a female, put a piece of pipe in a shower drain and it becomes a male.
