Installing new vaniety

I have a new vaniety which requires my hot and cold water lines to be at 20" off the floor and mine are at 24". It is a wall mounted sink and it will end up being to high if I don't lower the water lines. Any advise

Are the lines hard copper or chromed tubing? If so, then you can either cut them shorter or replace them with flexible lines. Are there shut-off valves that these lines go into before the faucet? A picture might help a bunch.
