Installing new utility tub in basement

Hi, we own a 1958 home in Ohio. We recently ripped out a basement "concrete" utility tub, which was located next to the washer and dryer. The washer drained it's discharge into this tub. The utility tub then had a black flexible hose that ran from the tub to a hole in the concrete, which appears to be a drain with no cover. Also, the "hole" has another pipe that comes from the water heater, and drains into it.
Our question is whether we can just re-create the same set-up for the new "lighter" utility tub? We would like to do everything up to code, so as to not incur expenses later for re-sale. Any helpful tips or feedback?

Your house was built in 1958. I am sure that was acceptable back then. No one expects you to chip up the concrete to set it up the way that it should be with a real drain.

You will be fine if that is the way it was when you got the house.

Guessing that the "hole" is a floor drain with no cover. This is typical. I would say to go ahead and run the new set-up the same way.

If you want to get everything up to code then you cannot recreate the same setup you just took out. A proper drain and vent for your utility tub needs to be installed.

It has been done! It might not be up to code, but it's the same way it was before the tear down.

LoL....I kind of figured you'd scab it back together even though you stated in your original post that you wanted to keep everything up to code. Congrats!
