Installing a basement bathtub ... help please?

The house I purchased has a basement bathroom rough in ...

so I purchased an Enameled Steel tub similar to below;

http://www.craneplumbing.com/product...000LNS&lang=EN

1. do I need to put anything underneath the bath tub? i.e. vapor barrier, wood shims? or does it just sit on the concrete?

there is a styrofoam base that's been attatched to the steel bottom of the tub.

2. with respect to the order in which I do things, what's the proper order? I've framed out the bathroom, including an alcove for the bathtub. when do I tile? before or after I install the bathtub? (i.e. should the tub be sitting on tile underneath?) - same question I suppose goes for the toilet, should I tile around the toilet rough in, then install the toilet on top?

any info would be greatly appreciated!

thanks!

I'm not a pro plumber, just a long-time DIYer.
IMHO, you do not need to tile under the tub. You can sit it on the slab and tile to it.
A toilet flange needs to be flush on top of the finished tile floor and bolted to it (Tapcons), and the toilet base needs to be bolted to the flange so that nothing moves, in order for the wax ring to seal properly.
Now the pros can give you better info.

hey there guys ...

thanks for the tips ... this is great news.

one other question ... I'll have to install a vent fan, but do I need any special tools to cut through the siding on my house?

Yep. Just depends on the siding.
I have drilled "many holes in a circle" through c/block and brick and chipped out the opening for that.
You can cut through vinyl siding, etc with a large hole saw or a variable speed jigsaw.

awesome ... thanks for the news ... I guess I would just use some expanding foam and caulking to seal the vent afterwards?

along with some insulation to wrap around the aluminum tube?
