Installed bathroom sink, smell now

I installed a new sink and drain recently. I removed the P drain to fit in the new vanity. About 2 days later I reattached everything. I still have the smell from the drain being open without the P attached. How long should/would this smell last? Its been about a day and I can still smell it. Just wondering if its possible I did something wrong. Thanks

Your mistake was not plugging the drainpipe while the trap was removed. Sewer gas contains a lot of different things. You will probably need a fan to get rid of the smell. Fabreeze works well also.
