close 3/4" nipple with a bell reducer? nice tile work too!

Ning,
Unscrew the pipes. They are normally dummies put in by the plumber for the tile person to tile around. A standard shower arm should screw into the top hole. The bottom one can be replaced with a piece of 1/2" copper with a male threaded adapter soldered to it. Then the tubing can be cut to length for a tub snout that is made to slide over with an allen screw holding it on.

Those are only there to ensure that the fittings (in the wall) didn't get covered over when the tiling was done. Just unscrew and remove them.

It's hard to tell by the pictures, but I'm going to say those are probably 1/2" nipples sticking out of the wall (much more common than 3/4"). Pipe sizes are measured by the inside diameter.

For the tub spout, you'll need to replace that steel nipple with a brass nipple of the proper length. For the shower head, you'll replace that steel nipple with a chrome shower arm and flange.

THANK YOU!

i almost called my plumber and give him hell (something like "you knew i have 1/2" shower arm and you put in 3/4" pipe!!!???"), and in the process making a fool out of myself.

i will try to uncrew them tomorrow and see what i come up with.

Just make sure you use teflon tape and/or pipe dope on the threads when you install the new stuff.
