install heights for shower fixtures

I am installing a shower enclosure (no tub) and a new shower head system. Probably something like this (maybe different brand but same style).

http://www.faucetdepot.com/prod/Amer...rome-92434.asp

Is a standard shower valve just a tub valve with a cap / plug on the bottom port (what would otherwise be the tub feed)? Or is there a special valve made for shower enclosures only?

Also wondering if there are "typical" or standard heights for roughing in / mounting all the shower fixture parts in the enclosure (the valve, riser / wall supply, and also how high to install the bar for the adjustable shower head to clamp on to.

I suppose the mfg would include some directions / recommendations - even so, from an aesthetic point of view, what do you all typically do in that regard?

thanks

install heights for shower fixtures<<<

You can start with the manufactors recombinations and ajust them to suit yourself.

They make them both ways, it you want to use a tub-shower valve you just plug the tub port.

Don't forget to put some wood where the pipes come thru for support.
