Inside Pipe Cutter

i bought the following product to do some inside ABS pipe cutting:

http://www.amazon.com/Plumb-Shop-In...94-1852140?ie=UTF8&s=hi&qid=1176397802&sr=8-1

the problem with it was that the blad is fastened to the shaft with a screw, which caused it to unscrew when the drill was spinning in the corresponding direction, which caused me to lose the screw as i was cutting a vertically-positioned toilet pipe rooted in the basement concrete of my house.

later on, it occurred to me that perhaps, i should have been spinning the drill in the opposite direction, which would have the opposite effect - fasten the screw even tighter. but that was after the fact.

nevertheless, i think it is a STUPID DESIGN of the cutter - the two pieces should have been welded rather than screwed to enable motion in each direction.

the product also never came with any instructions/manual to explicitly warn of the proper direction usage.

i was wondering if there is an alternative product that meets my design vision above (welded pieces) or simply a better product someone would recommend ?

thanks,

- a

I did inside cutting toilet drain pipe with regular rotery tool with cutting wheel... it did the job... I agree with you regarding the problemtic direction.... they also sell similar cutting wheel for rotery tool... although the one I used is not the same... I also attached the wheel to drywall rotary cutter which also work better but it has limited depth access......
