I'm considering going tankless, not too sure of this brand though (EZ Tankless)

So I'm getting fed up with my Whirlpool Flame-Lock water heater. Apparently there was a class-action lawsuit against the manufacturer since the thermostat and thermocouple both are pretty defective and need to be replaced on a fairly regular basis. Last year was the end of the settlement and now I can't get in on the free replacement kit they provide. So now Whirlpool will reimburse me for the first failure but not anything after that (grrr). So my wife and I are considering just jumping our remodeling schedule and go ahead with the planned tankless water heater system we were going to do in about 1-2 years from now. Thing is, our budget is really tight right now. So I started looking on eBay to see if anyone around had one I could grab for a deal. I actually managed to find EZTankless.com. They have some 5 and 7 GPM models that would probably do just fine in my house (1600sqft & 2 full baths). My only concern is that I can't seem to find any independant reviews of their products so I don't know if this is a brand I can trust for service, parts, etc... Still, the site looks a bit "semi-pro" as do their YouTube videos but at least they're trying to get the word out without spening $$ on some fancy webmaster and video producer when this will work. I'm just wondering if their $500 units can compare with some of the $1200 units I'm used to seeing...

What do you guys think?

Try this site. EZ not listed. I would do a lot of research. Find out where they are from and contact the BBB.

Yeah, I talked with the sales rep on the phone this afternoon. I noticed that there was only a 1 year warranty on their products where my Whirlpool water heater has a 12 year warranty. They mentioned that their in the process of getting Energy Star rated and that their warranty will improve after that (as well as their prices will increase to offset the cost of the certification). I also asked about some model that is for sale on eBay but isn't listed in their website. He told me that it was a prototype that they're not going to sell since it was a outside unit that didn't have freeze protection. Made sense but I'm still a little leery.

This company is in Indiana and they resell units that have been sold in China and Europe for many years but just now are starting to get popular in the US. Frankly, their YouTube videos say a lot. They explain why their designs are much better than most of what is out there now (and it makes sense) and the production quality shows that they are a relatively small shop with little resources for marketing. This can be good or bad if you ask me. Small businesses are much more responsive and interested in keeping my business but larger companies have more resources to draw from... I'm still deciding but, for the price, it may be well worth it to take a chance...

What about parts and service on this unit? Many Plumbers will install tankless heaters but do not do service work on them since they are very complex inside. What does the one year warranty cover? Do you want to wait a couple weeks for parts if something fails? Lots to consider when purchasing a tankless. I would suggest at least reading about the more expensive units including Rinnai and Rheem.
