Identifying rough in pipes and capping drain/vent?

2 Attachment(s)
Hello -
I'm trying to understand what pipes I have in my basement rough in. Primarily because every now and then I get sewer smells - which unfortunately permeate the house when I have my attic fan running!

I've taken some pictures (see below) and numbered the pipes.
Of these, only #3 is uncapped. can I just cap it with some sort of PVC cap?

No pictures posted.
A rule of thumb I guess would be if it's over 3/4 then it's a drain or a vent so cap it. They come in rubber and PVC they fit so tight I would not glue them.

1--toilet--2-sink/wet vent 3 toilet vent 4 bath tub or shower.

Any or all could let in sewer gas---cap them--Joes suggestion of rubber caps has some merit---Mike---
