ideas for this nub of a sump drain

The drain for my sump pit goes from my basement through the concrete slab in my back "yard" (i live in a city row home). Here is a picture of it. I'm sure at one point it was more elaborate but maybe someone accidentally broke it off. Anyway, I've had a cap on it so nothing got in it, but this summer i've been using a dehumidifer in my basement and would like to have it drain into the sump pit which means i'd need to leave this exposed somehow. I worry about a) stuff getting into it and clogging the pipe or b) someone hitting it again and breaking it worse.

My thought was maybe putting some sort of like cover over it that i would bolt to the cement, then cut a little bit away on the side that faces the downward slope of my concrete so that when water was pumped out, it would just hit the top of the cover and then flow out the opening i create.

Was wondering if anyone else had an idea that woudl be better. Thanks!

Why not put an elbow on it?

my fear was that if i just put an elbow on it, then the next time someone accidentally kicks it then its going to break even lower like maybe below the concrete
