ice maker or water filter stop valve

Was wondering what this exact part is called and where one can find it as a standalone part. Is it sold in Home Depot or Lowes? I haven't noticed seeing it around those stores before, or they're not situated to be easily found.

I have this at my home to stop flow of water from water line to water filter. Nice part that I like.

Why do you ask? Have you checked it to make sure it shuts off by closing it and disconnecting the outgoing side?
Have you checked where it connects to the main to see if there's another valve there to shut it off.
Sorry abut the questions just trying to save you aggravation and $$$.

PS Remember when you first disconnect it there will be residual water in the line that comes out.

That looks to me like an item that might have been sold with the water filter system and that exact valve won't be found on the shelf in a plumbing supply.

BTW, thanks for the pic. That makes attempting to be helpful much easier.

I do realize that part may be part of the water filter kit. It is just that its a nice part standalone for Diy projects. This is first time I've seen that kind of part.

The plumbing for that does have main shutoff at the tee where it branches off the cold water supply in kitchen, but not very accessible, so this 2ndary valve helped when we replaced filter system with diff type, keeping this existing valve intact.

I got valves like that for my RO system at either Lowes or Home Depot. You're looking for "JG" or "John Guest" fittings for "PE" or "Poly-Ethylene" tubing. Typically 1/4" is the only size the come in.

That is a 1/4" Murlock valve. I keep a couple on my truck. Murlock (brand) fittings (aka around here as push-pull fittings) are available in a few plumbing supply houses here. I'd imagine they would be available wherever you are too. If not, they can be ordered through the supply house.
