I saw an unusual looking "tile" job on a shower...

I saw an unusual looking "tile" job on a shower the other day.
The guy explained he had done it himself this way to save $$$.
He swears it has not leaked or been any problem at all in 2 years.
Any reason why he should not have done this in this fashion?
I figured if it looks nice, stays dry on the other side..... why not?
He had the ends tucked into vinyl strips and he said it was all glued up!
Here's a pic showing what I saw..... sort of.... or how he explained to to me anyways.

I was impressed... it actually looked real good!
Just wondering if there is anything I should warn him about?

That's different----Sheet flooring glued and siliconed would probably work fine---Not a look many people would want, but sealed properly at the edges it would be safe.
