I need Help with new plumbing

Ok as of now my plumbing sucks the people that put it together were morons

i would like to redo all of this and move a few things around the house

first i need to fix the drains
so what would be the best drain you would run

to understand my picture yellow is crawl space
red is outside no coverage like under a porch
orange is in a basement
blue is main line in and
green is main drain out

feel free to draw on this but i need to re run it because these morons ran the drain pipe outside from the kitchen in the crawl space to the red zone and it freezes

and the whole setup is just wrong so it clogs bad im mainly looking for other peoples opinions

the hot water heater is down in the basement just showing the location of things and also my stairs go up and down in the same location so running straight across isnt easy but doable if you run in front anyways

this is how its ran now one of my main issues is that in my plumbing system i have every form of piping you can put into plumbing i have cpvc pvc cast iron clay brass the only kind i dont have in my system is pex lol

Thanks---I'm guessing you are typing from a phone----You only wrote one sentence describing the problem---although I am good with plumbing I became confused--

Could you clear up what you need?

Drains are old---are you planning to replace water pipes?

What area is freezing? Where are sinks/toilets/fixtures in the house? How many levels?
All one original structure or a cluster of additions?

Age of house? Well or city?

Could you clear up what you need? I'm trying to run new pluming from the main as you can see in the pictures i have described where the areas of my basement are

Drains are old---are you planning to replace water pipes? just the drain pipes for now my goal would be to move the water heater to where the main supply of water comes in

What area is freezing? Where are sinks/toilets/fixtures in the house? How many levels? the pictures show where everything is at the area in red and closer to red on the yellow side are freezing
All one original structure or a cluster of additions? the red area is all addition to the house

Age of house? Well or city? 1930s city water

Just a general rule of physics--the drain work needs to be done first---as gravity is the only thing drains have going for them----next ,the water lines---

Pex would be a good option for the water lines,if your area allows its use---very simple to run--and the most freeze/burst resistant of all piping---

I'll open up that sentence for you if you don't mind----Mike----

No i dont mind but heres the thing i already understand this part of it im more looking at what directions im running the pipe

For instance is there a better way to run my pipe in detail 3in main etc etc drawing on my picture would also help and i already planned on doing pex after i move the hot water heater over by the main thanks for that

Is there any route that would keep the drains out of the red unheated area?

It's hard to advise you from that drawing and I can not see what obstacles are in the way --other than the stair case.

Ok i would like to try and keep all the pipe inside either the crawl space or the basement with the exception of the washer theres nothing i can do about it its got to be outside but its minimal so should be no issues there...
Here is a picture of the main bunch of drains the drain you see in front of the light is for the tub... The big cast iron is obvisoly the main drain to the outside septic that is attached to city sewer... the pipe that runs to the right of the main goes up makes a 90 turn goes back behind with a p trap behind the main the back up goes to the washer which is the one you see going up first then after that you have the sink in the bath room then you have the sink that goes to the kitchen


Ok now here is the continuation of the pipe as you can see in the far back you have the washer the middle one is the sink in the bathroom which basiclly comes straight down never touches the outside and then the kitchen sink and dishwasher all on that same line


i have more pictures but photobucket is having issues so ill post once its back up so you can see the rest of the basement

Ok here is the stairs that are in the way along with the electrical box i plan on moving the electrical box over to the other side where the water heater is and the water heater will be moved to the other side of the house anyways



this is a picture of my access to my crawl space in there is where i have the sink drain that runs out side then back in where you see in in the photos above



Once again i would like to try and keep all my pipe inside of my crawl space and basement thanks for all help you can give me

That's quite a mess you got there
It can be cleaned up though, I'd start with the 4" cast iron that exits the foundation and rebuild it and the toilet in plastic. The rest can be done with a 2" line that is wyed off near the existing clean out. You'll need to figure out how to get it to the far sink without going outside though.

Ya thats what i was thinking i was considering running that main line you see heading towards the stairs all the way down then just running a line straight across to the sink kinda like this what do you think the other issue is i would have to replace the pipe outside in the ground that goes to the city sewer not sure what size to use i think i want to replace that cast iron with pvc any recommendations

Most outside sewers are 4" plastic. We use what we call "3034" PVC- approved by a lot of state and cities specifications. It is thinner then normal PVC drainage pipe but it's very tough. Stub standard DWV plastic out the foundation- install a exterior clean out then run the sewer to the main.
