I need to buy a new toilet. Is this a good toilet?

I was planning to buy something like this, keeping it around the $100 mark.

I have never bought or installed a new toilet before, what do you think of it?

Buy something else. You need to spend closer to $200. (or more)

Glacier Bay is HD house brand is not of the best quality.

Experience has taught me to determine if parts to repair are available before purchasing. If parts aren't fairly standard and available at time of purchase the odds of locating parts a few years later is worse than attempting to out run lightening.

Take a look at the American Standard Champion 4 sold at Home Depot and Lowes for around $200.

It is kinda pricy at $289, http://www.homedepot.ca/product/cham...-toilet/852967

I was thinking of spending a bit less. I am quite frugal.

The prices in Canada are quite a bit higher than the USA but here is a Delta for $209

Don't cheap out on a toilet, you will regret it.

Is there anything wrong with teh toilet i posted. I was thinking about spending $150 tops. My old toilet lasted longer than 30 years, the newer one in the OP that I posted should be good for that many years too right? I just want a basic toilet that flushes.

Here are some of the other choices I have: http://www.homedepot.ca/catalog/toil...OfferPrice%7C0

Big difference between today's toilets and toilets of yesterday. One service call on a stopped up toilet and you just bought a champ 4.

I had a champ 3 at my last house and wish i would have taken it with me. Larger trap way and a full 4" flush valve for that price is hard to beat.

I managed to install a Champion 4 all by myself for the first time in my life without any tools.

These guys are telling you that it's one of the industries most widely raved about toilet on the market. It does what it does very well with low maintenance.

At the end of the day, you're gonna spend how much you want to spend but you do get what you pay for.

American Standard is what I'd get in the 200-300 $ price range. Wait for a sale if you can. Cheap ones may cause you grief if it keeps plugging up because of bad design.
What they say the average person spends on a toilet throughout their lifetime? 3 Years or so.....want to play twice that long with a plunger in your hand?

I've put in a half dozen $100 Lowes Project source house brand toilets(thats what the boss buys). They work. The seat is plastic junk, the wax ring is junk, the tank to bowl hardware provided makes the tank rock back & forth.
Very little water swishes around after a flush so you'll need to keep a brush handy for the leftover skid marks.

An Old saying "You get what you pay for" I found it's usually true.

Another thought.

FYI... Better measure to see what the offset is from the wall. Used to be 10 inches, now more like 12 inches. We had to special order one from HD because our house was built in 1983 and it had the ten inchers in it. They don't stock 'em any more.
