I may be forced into using the sharkbite fitting

Bad gate valve. The gate valve shuts the water off to a trickle. I want to cut in a ball valve but the only real place to do it is right above the meter. Problem with sharkbite ball valves is they pinch if not strapped properly. I laid the job out already, cut out section of pipe, mount some bell housing clamps into concrete, pop on the sb valve then sweet in a section of pipe, done. What I am asking is can I just use a 3/4 inch compression ball valve? It would save me some trouble of having to drill into concrete.

3/4 compression ball valve will work-----

There is a cool tool called a Jetswet---the will allow you you sweat a valve on with water in the pipe---I'll see if I can find a picture----

Genius. It is worth ordering a whole kit of those. I have never seen one of these before. Amazing

Those saved me from a nightmare---a basement water proofer hit the one inch main under the slab--

17 inches of snow made finding the Buffalo box unlikely-----so out came the JetSwet----and work continued. (After I changed my wet shirt)

Jet sweats are lifesavers! Whoever invented them has a special place in heaven.

I love them. I have a 1/2 - 1" kit in my truck for service work.

We have one that goes through 2" ( I believe maybe 1-1/2) at the shop.

+1 for jet swet.
