I have lost water pressure in my shower

Hi there,

I had to turn off my water to install a new hot water tank. The next day when my daughtert went to take a shower my water pressure had diminished greatly. Everything else in the house seems fine. Does anyone have any ideas?

Oh, yeah, it isn't the shower head. I took that off and it is still just trickling out of the pipe that comes out of the wall. I am not on a well, either. I have a circular single handle shower handle taht you rotate to turn on the water.

Thanks in advance for any assistance anyone can give. It is a long drive to my parents house to shower myself and my kids every other day.

If that's the only fixture with problems,,,could have gotten trash in the valve

I agree with Kenmac.

Probably crud in the valve. Yeah, you can fix it but it's hard to say how your particular valve comes apart.
I'd shut the water off again, remove the valve cartridge and turn the water back on and let it flush out for 5-10 seconds. I'd also inspect the cartridge itself.
You might even have little flat-head water shutoff screws on the valve body itself.

Okay, I don't mean to sound like a stupid woman LOL; and I, kind of, know what you are talking about when you say cartridge. When I had to fix my kitchen faucet I learned a little bit about a cartridge.

But for my shower. when I take the shower head off there is just a pipe copming out of the wall. I don't see where there is anything in it.

Is the cartridge located behind the faucet handle where you turn water on and off?
