hydro pex? any good?
I've seen a fair amount of Pex-products installed on various commercial projects and to date, the only brand of Pex i've ever seen used is the one made by Uponer. Their pex is the only pex trusted by our plumbing companies and from what i've read on the web, the Uponer (or Wirsbo) tubing and connections are the best out there. Theirs is the only system that does not utilize a mechanical fastening system (such as crimping), but rather a compression fitting. I am sure that this is the only failsafe style of connection available for pex and when I replumb my house, including the boiler pipes, I will use nothing else. The uponer tool costs about $290 and includes 1/2", 3/4" and 1" heads. That's pretty much all you DIY'ers will ever need. I never checked, but i'm sure that 3/8" and
1 1/4" heads are available seperately using the same tool. It's called a ProPex tool. The fittings are also called ProPex. Hope this helped.\
