HWT business blues

I am wondering if anyone else is finding the Flame Guard domestic hot water tank pilot problems as troublesome as we are?
Some GSW tech's now refer to those hot water tanks as "high maintenance".
Mostly what we are finding is nuisense pilot outages on simple atmospheric HWT's that can't be duplicated on call outs.
We've considered switching brands but I've also heard complaints about most of the others brands in the last 5 years.

Major pain in the azz. I used to install reliance and those are total junk. Started installing Rheem 7 yrs ago and have had pretty good luck. Only 3 or 4 issues with those.

Amazing that the freak'n government has no clue about our industry and imposes a crap design for combustion air. All that fine dust, lint and dander will clog the inlet where in the past all this was burned going up the flue.

We have had a couple in the last 6 months where we just open the sealed access panel a little to allow air in.
