Hubless coupling vs. Fernco

I just had my MBR toilet moved about 3'. The plumber removed a section of the 3" cast and replaced it with PVC and used a Fernco to connect the new PVC to the old cast. Is a Fernco OK for this application or does it need a hubless coupling?

Fernco's are often used to transition from cast to PVC. As long as he used the correct size and configuration, it shouldn't be a problem at all.

Fernco is fine as long as it is above ground.
