How to turn this pipe fitting? (steel pipe)

I am installing a vanity in this bathroom project. The wall you see in this picture is not load-bearing. What I want to do is cut a hole out of the 2x6 to the left of the pipe here, and then turn this fitting about 90 degrees to the left so it points to the left, and then add about 6" of pipe and then have it elbow out of the wall from there. How do I turn this fitting?

You won't get that to turn. You need to cut it out and install a fitting pointing the direction you want. Use shielded couplings

You won't turn the fitting without turning the pipe above it.
Cut all the galvanized out now while you have the wall open and replace it with PVC.

you have to it out use pvc or abs with rubber cupplings point tee in direction you want ...ben

Easiest way is to use a snap cutter, and install rubber couplings and pvc or abs, but if you don't have that tool, I could suggest to check what is underneath the floor, may be there is already a rubber connection, and may be you can rotate the entire thing up to the roof as you want (unlikely in my opinion, but why not to give it a try).

That's galvanized, not cast iron. Snap cutter wont cut it.

Need a hacksaw or a sawzall with a heavy metal blade.

You are right, it's galvanized, my bad.
In that case, if nothing works, may be a few good blows on the hub could be enough to make the whole thing turn, because after all there is no solder or threads there, just lead and the rope.
BTW I hate houses that still use galvanized, make every repair or improvement so much harder (compared to abs or pvc).

Those fittings pictured are threaded. I can't say they won't turn, but it's unlikely, since loosening one end will cause the other end to tighten.

Ok, this is my last idea: using a sledgehammer, make the hub turn counterclockwise 3/4 or a turn (that means all around), it will be damage done to the drywall in the other side and may be the 2 studs that are on the way (that you should cut to make room and later repair), that should be enough. But I'm afraid that on the other side there is a finished wall and a toilet on the way. No easy fix as I see it.

Last suggestion: don't turn or cut anything, just fit the new vanity cabinet over that thing, and it will be hidden from sight inside the cabinet and will work fine.
