How to stop dripping bathroom faucet

I'm trying to save water, but have to have instructions to fix the faucet. This slanted faucet I believe was installed circa 1985. I have no idea of the brand nor what I need to do to stop the constant drip. This is what it looks like (sans the drip).

If you turn a faucet from full off to full on, how much do you have to turn it? A quarter turn? This info is needed to explain how to repair the leak.

The brand is Eljer, says right on the handle. You'll need to shut the water off, pull the hot and cold stems, and take them to a plumbing supply house to match up.

It's 3/4 of a turn from full off to full on.

I'm not familiar with that particular model. There should be a set screw somewhere holding them on. Someone else here may know better.

I have seen some handles which were held on by the trim sleeve under them. The handle and sleeve are together but spin freely, and when you screw the sleeve onto the faucet it pulls the handle onto the splines on the stem. Just a suggestion.

The sleeve turns but nothing happens. Thanks for the suggestion anyway.

Go to eHow.com and search "how to remove eljer faucet handles" They have instructions, but they do not make alot of sense to me, not seeing the faucet. Good Luck!!

From the looks of your picture, try popping the plastic top caps off using a knife point. If that works, remove the screws and the handles will come off.

Then remove the stems using a wrench. 3/4 turn from full off to full on probably means there will be a round rubber gasket at the bottom of the stem that is held on with a screw. Loosen the screw and take the stem assembly to the store and buy replacement rubber gaskets.

The handles are solid metal. There are no plastic tops so there's nothing to flip off.

If you're certain those orange looking tops don't pop off(they may be metal), try broox's suggestion;

They are orange because of the flash. Kind of like "red eye."
Looks like I may end up crawling under the sink to attack the problem with a 3/32-inch hex key if I can locate the hole.

I think the "hole" in under the handle cap, not under the sink (if that was literal). Try looking in the space of the handle wings for an Allen-wrench hole in the side of the faucet stem under the handle cap.

I'll have to call Eljer as there is NO cap on the handle, which is 100% metal with no seam. The photo is deceiving.
