How to Replace Wall Sink Drain Rod & Strap

We're trying to replace the bathroom wall sink's drain rod & strap.

It's together, but we can't figure out how to connect the rod to the strap. Right now it's backwards [rod down it's open; rod up it's closed but you have to hold it to keep it closed - if you let go the drain opens].

How is the strap supposed to be connected to the rod?

Do you have a computer? You could look it up on the Internet!:whistling2:

Done!

Well, searching on the internet is how we found this site.

After much muttering & changing things, we have it fixed.

But can you recommend a step-by-step plumbing internet site for us to use the next time we're stumped?

There are plenty of plumbers here but the best time to catch them is in the evening. Most everyone has a day job.
