how to remove tough price phister kitchen faucet?

I was removing an old price phister kitchen faucet, and I thought it would be a breeze. But unlike other faucets this one seems to be clamped to the center hole of the sink, and everything underneath is a mass of rust.
I managed to tear it down to a cylinder of iron, and I'm thinking about attacking it with a hacksaw next. Is there a better way?

Thanks

It looks like there is a 2" or longer bolt underneath fastening the thing to the sink, but it is all rusted out. I figure I'll just snap the bolt if I take a wrench to it.

There should be a nut down there--Can you post a picture? I install a lot of good faucets

So I must have ripped one of these out---If you can't get a tool on the nut, some times drilling the nut and splitting it off with a screw driver will work.---Mike---

Sorry I can't get a picture.

I think there is a nut down there, slotted for a flat wrench. The nut is very long, at least two inches or more before it reaches the sink.

The nut seems to press a crescent shaped piece of metal against the bottom of the sink, around the center hole. This seems to hold the faucet in place. But everything is all rusted out, you can hardly tell the nut is there.

If no one has any ideas, I'll try wd 40 and go after the nut. If it breaks I'll try the hacksaw on that rusty stuff underneath. It will take too long, but what else can be done?

An angle grinder will make quick work of it...
